You can now see differences between two fonts by adding the "font2" argument in the URL.

note: the bitmap comparison is in color attributes, not RGB values.

Very Good idea. This will enable to keep better attributes from duplicates.
The hash function can be useful there (to apply on all characters instead of just 'A')
Consider also comparing palettes (may be ordered differently in duplicates)

I'm thinking of writing a page to compare two fonts (characters, their parameters, bitmaps) to address quite a few of potentially duplicate fonts.

I converted a bunch of some older, general-named font images into fonts and added them in the collection. The number of BMF fonts is now 2012. It's possible, likely even, that there are some duplicates, though.

Added some "console-like" looking fonts.

Back to 1900 fonts and counting.

We were at the 1900 fonts milestone before that reduction, now it's 1884. But I've got a lot of stuff to pick up so…

I found the Duplicates using the results of the hash matches.

Regarding the font count - I'm trying to compensate you for the duplicates by regularly sending freshly ripped (old) fonts from the Atari ST demo-scene.

Zbeng: I looked back in the discussion where you pointed out some duplicate pairs of same fonts, did some comparisons and deleted those less defined, with less characters. Again, Zbeng, thank you so much for that nice work!

The count of uploaded fonts on this site thus went down few pieces, yeah, but on the other hand, we now've'got less dupes.
(quality over quantity - that's the plan!)
